Frequently Asked Questions

Will fillings and crowns be affected by the whitening?
Hydrogen peroxide will have no negative effect on the integrity of fillings and crowns, these materials will not whiten in any type of bleaching procedure. However, the peroxide will remove staining from composite materials.

Is whitening for everyone?
Pregnant and nursing mothers, children under the age of 14, diabetics and those with pre-existing medical or periodontal problems should consult their physician/dentist prior to undergoing any whitening procedure. Consumers with severely tetracycline stained teeth may choose bonding and veneers as the best option. Tetracycline stain can not be removed. Remember, teeth can not be bleached whiter than genetically possible.

What causes the white streaks in the teeth after whitening?
These bright white streaks are caused by the calcium deposits embedded in the teeth. This will subside to normal over the next 48hrs. Or sooner.

Why is having an FDA Approval important when other Systems are not?
The White Brilliance™ System was approved by the FDA initially for use in the dental industry. An FDA approval verifies that the White Brilliance™ System works according to the way it was designed, represented and tested to the dentists. The system is still being bought and used by dentists nationwide. Because of the FDA's recent determination regarding teeth whitening, it is now considered a cosmetic procedure when certain "procedural guidelines" are followed. These guidelines require that the teeth whitening be a self-applied process.

Without FDA approval, there is no regulatory committee overseeing who is selling what products for teeth whitening, what is being put in the whitening gel, if it is safe, effective or what light source is being used. Basically, these non-professional, non-dental systems are not been tested or approved for safety or human use, if they work, or if their claims are real.

What is the Difference between "TRUE LED TECHNOLOGY" & "OTHER LIGHTS"?
As part of the procedure, the White Brilliance™ System requires the use of 3 industry standard high intensity, ultra blue/violet LED heated lights for bleaching! The wavelength of the light emitted from the unit is in the range of 430-490 nm and the light is blue/violet in color. The light has a life expectancy of approx, 800,000 + hours! (This is not a light bulb or spectrum light with a blue colored filter, cover or coating that needs to be replaced). Spectrum bulbs will burn out and are replaced after 80,000 hours of use.

Is it Safe?
Yes, our FDA approved White Brilliance™ whitening light and gel ingredients are safe and effective for cosmetic teeth whitening. The dental industry has used this same technology and gel products for many years. This process does not change or damage the structure of the teeth; it just makes them appear whiter and brighter.

Who Administers the Product?
Because this process borders dental, it is mandatory that the customers handle and apply the products themselves. It is a self managed procedure. (See customer consent form on the web-site under PROCESS) at www.white-brilliance.com

Why do other Whitening Systems use clear trays and gel foam strips in their whitening process, and only for a "15 minute" session?
It is a convenient and easy way to get customers in and out with almost no effort. Putting a clear tray over your teeth will prevent the light from having direct contact with the gel. This also causes the light source to deflect away from the teeth breaking down its effectiveness as it "can not" penetrate the required light nor heat through the tray. Next, foam gel strips are put between the teeth and the tray to help hold the tray in place. This again blocks the light having direct access to the teeth, thereby reducing its effectiveness. 15 minutes is not enough time to get true dental quality results! White Brilliance™ is designed to work as it was intended, heat and light technology applied directly to the gel.

Can White Brilliance™ offer a turn-key business opportunity, packaged with a system ready to go with all that is needed to be successful?
Besides our FDA approved products, White Brilliance™ has promotional materials available, as well as business concept planning. Beyond this, each business model and area of the world, have different needs and markets. A White Brilliance™ customer service representative will gladly discuss your business model, help you plan profitable business strategies and answer any questions you may have.

How many shades whiter can I expect my teeth to get?
The amount of whitening varies from client to client and cannot be predicted or guaranteed; but in general use, teeth may lighten anywhere from 6 to 12 shades on the whitening shade guide. The results depend greatly on how discolored the teeth were originally. Yellow or brown teeth, surface stains, and uniformly darkened teeth are easiest to whiten. Additional whitening treatments may be needed in order to achieve the desired shade, especially with heavily stained teeth.

How does it remove stains?
Our system will remove most stains with a gentle LED bleaching action that whitens your teeth. As the active ingredients in the gel (carbamide & hydrogen peroxide), is broken down, heat, oxygen and light acts upon the stained organic deposits, which oxidizes them into a whiter color. This process makes the overall tooth color closer to its natural unstained color while your tooth structure remains unchanged. Years of clinical tests have demonstrated the safety and effectiveness of this system. Over 95% of our customers treated, achieve some level of tooth whitening.

How long dose the treatment take?
The process takes only 30-minutes, (2 - 15-minute applications) to achieve a whiter and brighter smile. It is broken down into 2, 15-minute applications to allow for maximum gel concentration and light exposure, without being under the light for too long of a period to cause gum irritation. Individuals with sensitive teeth may reduce the intensity of the bleaching unit by choosing a lower power setting and those with very heavy stains may need additional treatments.

Does this process hurt?
Most client experience no pain or sensitivity from the treatment. A very small percentage of clients experience some slight tingling sensations. Avoid very hot or very cold drinks if tooth sensitivity does occur. If tooth sensitivity develops, fluoride home care gel can be recommended for reducing sensitivity. In the unlikelihood that sensitive persists for more then several hours, contact your dentist. It is recommended you visit your dental office regularly. Lastly, the bleaching gel, if misplaced and comes in contact with the gums, can cause temporary inflammation and white spots. This should resolve itself within a few hours.

Does your mouth or teeth get hot from the bleaching light process?
No. The LED light source is calibrated to produce a constant 103 degrees F. This is very comfortable, even to the touch.

Do I need protective eyewear?
No. This light source is not a laser. The White Brilliance™ LED system uses a special autoclavable mouth piece that directs the heat and light directly to the teeth and not the face. Systems that do not have directional light, loose the bleaching intensity and heat making the process ineffective.

What causes the gum discoloration after whitening?
Part of the gum line may turn white if extra bleaching gel comes in contact with these softer tissue areas. The peroxide component will bubble and turn white. This is a common occurrence in the dental industry known as "blanching". The affected areas should return to normal in 15 - 30 minutes. Rubbing vitamin E on these areas will help relieve any sensitive issues and return the natural color of the gums.

Why doesn't White Brilliance™ offer whitening sticks or teeth wipes?
We do not market or sell "over-the-counter" products which are readily available to the consumer. These items are "gimmicks" that when included, lead you to believe you are getting something better because there's more "stuff" included!

How long will the treatment last?
This will very from client to client and greatly depends on the types of foods and drinks you include in your everyday diet. This also greatly depends on your general dental hygiene habits. The affects from this bleaching process should last from 6 months to a year. Again, depending on your habits, periodic touch up treatments maybe recommended for those who drink coffee, smoke, drink red wine, iced tea, colas, and other staining foods. Typically, most people like to whiten again every 3 to 6 months

Are there any other benefits to teeth bleaching?
Yes, studies have shown that bleaching also contributes to destroying bacteria in the mouth, and helps control gingivitis and halitosis.

Does the whitening system work on Dentures, or Veneers?
Yes & No, the process was designed to enhance the natural whiteness of the enamel, but clients do claim that it also brightens up veneers and dentures. Clients have applied the gel product only to their natural teeth, allowing these treated teeth to lighten up to match a cap, crown, or veneer.
